Interview with the Vampire (1994) Claudia Doll

From the lavish 1994 hit film "Interview with the Vampire", starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt comes this prop Doll made for the leading character Claudia, brilliantly portrayed by a very young Kirsten Dunst.

A main thread within the film's storyline is that Claudia collects Dolls, starting with visiting a Doll maker's shop, only to end up killing the owner in order to obtain the Dolls she wants. Additionally LeStat (Tom Cruise) gifts her a Doll on each of her many Birthdays although being a child vampire, she never gets physically older.

This is one of the Dolls individually hand crafted for the production. Beautifully made with accurately detailed period costume, composite body and hand painted detail. [PM]

Legend (1985) Pair of magical creature ears

This is a pair of magical creature ears from Ridley Scott's 1985 fairy tale, Legend, starring Tom Cruise, Mia Sara and Tim Curry.

For a long time I couldn't place these ears to any character. The fact that they were dark green/bronze-ish with glitter and the film being so dark, I tried in vain to match them to the creatures in the film. Only the goblins were dark-skinned and their ears were very different from these, much more pointed.

Until I found, in the extras of the Ultimate Edition DVD, the continuity polaroids for some characters, and there they were. They clearly belong to the creature (what is it?) sitting on the banquet table in Darkness' lair, during Lily's seduction scene. In the film, the scene is so dark that you can't see any features of the creature, but under the clear light of the Polaroid it is clearly unmistakeable.

Eureka (TV, 2006) Sheriff Carter (Colin Ferguson) uniform

This is the uniform used by Sheriff Carter, played by Colin Ferguson, in the 2006 TV series "Eureka". The costume consists of the long-sleeved shirt (labelled "CARTER #1 PTS"), his signature dark brown t-shirt (appearing as nearly black) and trousers. There are no insignia and badges, as standard procedure is for the costume department to remove them before sending the costumes for cleaning or storage.

I was very lucky to obtain this costume, as for me it represents the series. Carter wears a Sheriff uniform throughout most of the series, with very few civilian exceptions.

For display purposes, the costume will be presented with replicas of the insignias and badges. I hope one day to find screen-used ones.

In Vicente Alves do Ó's 2011 film, "Quinze Pontos na Alma / Under My Skin", Simone meets a stranger who is about to commit suicide. A brief but strong connection is made and, when Guilherme jumps, Simone assumes the role of the widow.

This is the tombstone used in the graveyard scene. The tombstone is made of styrofoam, painted to look like real stone, and was placed in a real family tomb.

Demolition Man (1993) SAPD Uniform

This is a uniform used by the San Angeles Police in the 1993 blockbuster film Demolition Man, starring Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes and Sandra Bullock. Another great costume design by Bob Ringwood, who also designed the costumes for "The Shadow", which you can find elsewhere in this site.

Frozen in 1996, Phoenix, a convicted killer is "thawed" out for parole well into the 21st century. Revived into a crime free society, Phoenix resumes his murderous rampage, and no one can stop him. Spartan, the cop who captured Phoenix in 1996 has also been cryogenically frozen, this time for a crime he didn't commit. In desperation they turn to Spartan to help recapture Phoenix.

In December 1993, the Cinefantastique ran a series of articles on "Demolition Man", including one with an interview with Bob Ringood about his work for the film. "Death to spandex!", he said. You can read the complete article below.

This is an Babylon 5 Security/Mars Police duty uniform used in the TV series Babylon 5 and its spinoff Crusade. This uniform was used initially in Seasons 1-3 of Babylon 5, and then was repurposed for Mars Police in Crusade, where the chest and shoulder insignia were changed. The shoulder boards which were fastened with velcro were removed for the cleaning of the costumes and never returned to the production. [PP/BLP]

The Adventures of Captain Fabian (1951) Costume used by Vincent Price

This is the costume used by Vincent Price as George Brissac in the 1951 production of "The Adventures of Captain Fabian", also starring Errol Flynn and Agnes Moorehead. The film was written by Flynn himself and directed by William Marshall (and Robert Florey, although he is uncredited).

Price wears this costume throughout most of the film, probably due to the low budget of the production. The film was filmed in France and distributed in the USA by Republic.

I was very lucky to be able to screen match the costume, down to the details. It was purchased as being from an "unknown production" at a Bonhams, UK, auction. The costume had suffered some changes, mainly the shortening of the cuffs, removal of buttons on the front, sides and back and the hem at the front was "rounded out" where it had been straight.

Hoping to find a better copy of this extremely elusive film, in order to obtain better screen-captures.

The lobby card was colorized and the coat appears blue.

Price was shorted his salary and ended up successfully suing his producers and costar.

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (TV, 1993–1997) Dean Cain's Superman costume

This is a custom made Superman costume used in the 90's television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. It can be seen throughout the action packed series worn by Dean Cain as he goes about his double life. The costume consists of a thick blue spandex body suit, which features the legendary red and gold S insignia across the chest and a back zip closure, as well as a pair of red spandex briefs with a gold spandex belt. Also included, is a long red cotton blend, cape with padded shoulders, Velcro closures, large solid gold S insignia and two snaps that connect the cape to the body suit. There are two production markings located on the costume, inside the briefs is marked "Stunt Fly" and on the interior of the cape "FLY." Best of all, the costume exhibits a production distressed bullet-like hole located on near the left shoulder; likely from an episode where superman is wounded.

Owning a Superman costume has always been one of my "Holy Grails". Few other costumes beat the pure iconic power and immediate recognition factor of the big "S" on the chest and the red cape, regardless of Superman's film or television incarnation. I'd like to thank the good folks at the Propstore of London for helping me fulfill the dream.

The Superman costume created for Lois and Clark had a few cosmetic changes compared to previous versions. The tights were a darker blue and the boots were a darker red and they did not have the V-notch cut in the top. The belt had a rectangular buckle rather than a round one, but most problematic for the wardrobe department was the cape.
Being the longest and therefore heaviest cape ever designed for a Superman costume, finding a good way to attach it to the tights was difficult.

Traditionally the cape was a throwback to the days of the Musketeers and Robin Hood and added an aesthetic reminder of those bygone days of gallantry and chivalry. However, getting the cape to fit a modern material that was never meant to support a long heavy accessory and have it look good on a human actor became a never-ending battle.

The first three episodes featured three different cape attachment designs. On the left was the cape from the episode Strange Visitor, which had raised epaulet-like attachments. In the center, the absolute worst design from Neverending Battle. The attachments were so stiff and heavy, it was impossible for the tights to be pulled up any higher. This version was dubbed 'the cleavage costume.'
The third episode was the charm. In I'm Looking Through You, a cape attachment design finally worked and, with few changes, would be the design used throughout the run of the series.

It was decided that Dean Cain himself would support the cape with his shoulders. The tunic was pulled up and under the cape. The arm loops were snug and flat against the body so they would not show up under the form-fitting and unforgiving tights. It's not surprising that Dean Cain commented that staying in shape was the hardest part of the job. Any weight gain would show up faster than a speeding donut.

To preserve the illusion that the cape was attached to the tights and to hold down the pleated front pieces, patches of Velcro were placed high on the shoulders. Tabs were also tucked into the neckpiece, but notice one has come loose in the photo on the right.

The experimentation finally paid off. The long cape design allowed for a rather regal look, or as Perry noted, "a kind of royal outfit." Pleated at the shoulders, but wide at the hem, the cape had a fluid, sweeping movement.Also, the embroidered back emblem of contrasting gold threads was unique to Lois and Clark. Prior costumes used a flat patch with a black stencil 'S' outline, or in the case of George Reeves' costume, a chest emblem was attached to the cape.

Lastly, a large part of the Kent family budget must have been set aside just for buttons. While it's probably true that Clark Kent could have unbuttoned his shirt at super speed, there has always been the dramatic appeal of seeing the shirt ripped open and revealing the costume underneath. Even Spider-Man has stolen this technique. Not to mention Lois Lane seemed to love watching the transformation.

From a technical standpoint, though never mentioned, the shirts were likely fitted with Velcro similar to the tuxedo shirt Dean wore at the 1993 Emmy Awards. As to where the cape and boots are hidden, that's a secret Superman has kept for over 60 years.

Capers

The costume used in the pilot episode was actually created by a company that specializes in dance costumes since they were one of the few costumers that actually worked with the unusual combination of tights and capes. After the pilot was bought, Warner Bros. wardrobe department was in charge of the costume, but there were problems. For more information on the costume, click here.

The cape, being the longest and heaviest created for Superman, stretched and pulled conventional tights/leotard material. Arching, rolling and bracing the cape to attach it to the costume didn't work (left-hand and center pictures). It took a few design changes to reach the costume style used for the bulk of the series (right-hand photo). Using spandex rather than leotard material solved problems that had traditionally plagued the Superman costume such as wrinkles, puckers and perspiration stains, but it would take actual muscle to solve the cape problem.

Having Dean Cain support the cape with his shoulders solved the cape droop problem. However, it led to an unconventional costume design.

The cape went on first, then the tunic was pulled up and over the shoulder loops and zipped up the back.

Hound of the Baskervilles (1959) Pipe used by Peter Cushing as Sherlock Holmes

This pipe has been identified and screen-matched as having been used by Peter Cushing in the 1959 Hammer production of "The Hound of the Baskervilles", in the role of Sherlock Holmes, playing with André Morell as Watson and Christopher Lee as Sir Hugo Baskerville, directed by Terence Fisher. The pipe belonged to Cushing, who was actually a cigarette smoker and didn't enjoy pipes, and was sold with other pipes (also used as Holmes in the 1968 BBC series) at his estate auction in 1994 and later acquired privately. In the case of this particular pipe, we have the good fortune of, besides it being clearly seen on the film, there being a publicity shot of Cushing holding the pipe.

At first, when I purchased the pipe, I didn't know what film it had been used on. At the time I browsed through the film and didn't find it. I gave up rather too quickly, as Cushing uses another pipe early on. I found it only when watching the film again and, to my surprise, this one is used towards the end, in a wonderful scene with Lee and Morell.

A Schedule for Nigel Fan, who played Ah Pin in episode #20, "Peking, March 2910", later paired up with "Benares, January 1910", to form "Journey of Radiance". Ah Pin drove the cart for Miss Seymour, Indiana and Anna Jones, as they travelled across China in 1910. He spoke Pidgin English for those who didn't speak Chinese.

Tony Robinson's Casting Advice Note. This included all the feed paid to the actor for his

week of work from July 27, 1991. He played Pierre Duclos in the episode, "Curse of the Jackal", which included "Egypt, 1908".

Pierre Duclos was the onsite photographer for the Howard Carter dig near the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. He became implicated in the murder of Rasheed Sallam when a powder similar to that used for a camera flash was found on the corpse and he was seen acting suspiciously around the camp. In actuality, Duclos was simply secretly taking pictures he could sell for the newspaper story and helped the young Indiana Jones and T.E. Lawrence discover the real culprit.

An 88 page script for the "Missing Link" episode of the classic science fiction television series "Space:1999" consisting only of those scenes in which Peter Cushing appears. Signed by Peter Cushing on the title page. With Cushing’s very extensive handwritten annotations and notes throughout. One page is an elaborate hand-drawn production chart in which Cushing shows the days he worked and how much he received for the role. The script came from Peter Cushing's own library.

Cushing plays “Raan” from the planet Zenno, 5 million light years from Earth, who encounters the colonists. Raan is 508 years old, and Zennites have a life span 10 times longer than the inhabitants of earth.

It's the early 1900s and he finds villagers who are wary of strangers and apparently live in fear, particularly when there is a full moon. He hears of the legend of Megaera, a Gorgon so hideous that to look at her will turn you to stone. Of particular interest to him are Dr. Namaroff (Peter Cushing) and his attractive assistant Carla Hoffman (Barbara Shelley). Namaroff is obviously hiding something and is very possessive of Carla, who suffers from blackouts and memory loss. With the help of his mentor, Professor Karl Meister (Christopher Lee), Paul tries to unlock the secrets around them.

This is a makeup case featuring a collection of items used by Virginia Grey (Anna Torv) in the 2009 television miniseries The Pacific. We first see Virginia in episode six, where she is accompanying Sgt. John Basilone (Jon Seda) on his celebrity tour. Back in their hotel room we are able to see Virginia getting a cigarette from this traveling makeup case. The case is covered with a brown reptilian pleather and features a gold snap closure, which still easily functions. The interior of the case is covered with yellow fabric and matching custom storage. The items included in the case are four matching containers, empty cylinder, two empty perfume bottles, brown cased nail kit and a makeup/cigarette clutch with lipstick holsters on both sides. This is a collection of fake German stamps created for the production of the 2008 WWII historical drama Valkyrie. Items such as these can be seen throughout the film as Col. Von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) and his fellow officers attempt to assassinate Hitler. The stamps are all printed on off-white sheets of paper giving them a slightly “aged” appearance. The stamp design features Hitler’s profile with a green background which reads “42, Gross Deutches Reich.”[PSoL]

This is a fourth draft shooting script of the George Lucas 1980 film "The Empire Strikes Back", dated October 24, 1978. Each page of the script is numbered in the style "numberXnumber".

There are certain elements that make me believe it is an original, such as certain parts of the copyright section being covered with white corrector, on each page the code is actually stamped in red.

Time (and experts) hopefully will tell. In any case, it remains a treasured piece of my collection.

Back in 1979, with The Empire Strikes Back production in full swing at studios in England and at Industrial Light & Magic in California, most young fans would have traded half their summer break for a chance to visit the Dagobah set in London, witness the model AT-AT shoot on the ILM stages, or just bask in the glow of the Star Wars vibe at LFL headquarters in North Hollywood (their pre-Skywalker Ranch address). Heck, just being on the receiving end of a Lucasfilm holiday greeting card would have offered a small measure of bragging rights among the schoolyard crowd. But, unless you knew a friend of a friend of a Lucasfilm insider, you probably had to wait in anticipation like the rest of us to find out what happened to Luke, Leia, Han and Vader following the events of A New Hope.

Perhaps that's why objects coming from within the production itself, generally called "cast and crew" items by collectors, are so highly coveted -- they represent a direct link to the actual making of a Star Wars movie, be it the gifts given to crew members, the jacket patches worn on set, or just the simple pages of stationery passed between production departments.

The crew "Intergalactic Passport" is a somewhat unique item to emerge from the Empire production, and was allegedly used as a guest pass to move between the various Empire soundstages in England. Resembling an actual passport, the pages are packed with some cool visa stamps, including examples from Corellia (Han Solo's homeworld), Tatooine, and even Utapau, which would not be visited in the Star Wars saga until 2005's Revenge of the Sith.

There are stamped and unstamped versions, and of the latter, only 450 were ever produced. They are extremely rare to find, as the vast majority are within the ILM archives. This is #272. [MB] (parts are excerpts from text by Pete Vilmur and Gus Lopez @ StarWars.com)

Otherworld (1985) Praetor Tunic

This is a Zone Trooper tunic worn in the rare 1985 TV series Otherworld. The tunic can be seen throughout the series’ limited run as the Sterling family find themselves in a parallel universe called Thel which is policed by ruthless Zone Troopers. This tunic features snap and zipper closures on the front, as well as fierce shoulder pads, four pockets on front, and two insignias on the collar. This rare costume piece comes from a cult series which is now nearly impossible to find.

This particular uniform was worn by Peter Blomilow as "Praetor" in three episodes (as listed on IMDB). The tunic's shoulder insignia have have four "pips", making it very distinctive and different from the other tunics worn in the series, and are found on only one character. The screen captures below are taken from awful VHS rips, hence their rather poor quality. [PSoL]

This is a "release script" for I, Monster, the 1971 film directed by Stephen Weeks (his feature debut) for Amicus Productions. It is an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, with the main characters' names changed to Dr. Charles Marlowe and Mr. Edward Blake.

It stars Christopher Lee as the Doctor and his alter ego, and Peter Cushing as Frederick Utterson, a central character in Stevenson's original story. Mike Raven and Susan Jameson also star. It was photographed by Moray Grant, with music by Carl Davis.

It was intended to be shown in 3-D, but the process was aborted mid-filming. [private purchase]

Peter Cushing's Pipes

This is a set of six pipes, a "Sherlock Holmes" calling card and syringe that belonged to screen legend Peter Cushing. I haven't yet screen-matched the pipes, but hope to be able to find them. Cushing was not a pipe smoker, but often smoked pipes in his screen and stage roles. These pipes could also have been used in his stage performances, and the lack of photo references makes screen-matching very difficult. I would be grateful for any help.

The "Sherlock Holmes" business card is not a prop, but part of a set made by Peter Cushing himself.

These pipes were auctioned in the Peter Cushing 1994 Phillips estate auction, and belonged to make up/special effects artist Dave Elsey, whose work includes Farscape, Little Shop of Horrors, Hellraiser, Mission Impossible and Star Wars III - Revenge of the Sith, amongst many others. Star Trek: Phase II (1977) Rare blueprints of the Enterprise and Galileo 9 Shuttlecraft

This is a set of production-used blueprints and drawings I purchased privately in 2002, which would be used for Star Trek: Phase II. The two smaller ones show a top and a port view of the Enterprise. The larger one shows a section of the Galileo 9 Shuttlecraft. It may be interesting to note that the Enterprise designation on the blueprint is NCC 1701-9.

The "Galileo 9" shuttlecraft from the aborted Phase II series represented quite a departure from all previous ships seen in Star Trek because it was the first ship not actually designed by Matt Jefferies. It was designed by Star Trek Phase II Art Director Joe Jennings. (Jefferies who was busy full time working on Little House on the Prairie and could only serve on the Phase II team in the limited capacity of "technical advisor" disliked the original "butterdish" design of the original shuttlecraft and advised Joe Jennings to redesign it.) It's actually Joe's name you see in the legend as the designer/artist on the various blueprint drawings that appear in the Star Trek Phase II: The Lost Series book, and on my shuttlecraft blueprint.

Below, two pages from the book, showing the Enterprise designs (the same we can find in the blueprints) and the painted concept for the shuttlecraft.

Images were cropped, in order to avoid showing the white (and uninteresting) part of the sheets. Give the condition, size and quality of the blueprint copies, I have no doubts that these were copied from the originals and might well have been production-used.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993) "For Eyes Only" PADD

A PADD used in the TV series Star Trek Deep Space Nine, in the 6th season episode "Behind the Lines". Admiral William Ross hands the PADD to Captain Sisko, for it contains top secret information about a massive sensor array near the Argolis Cluster.

This grey coloured prop has a metallic finish. There is a large display area at the top with a paper insert for a screen. It has the Starfleet logo in the centre and the words ‘For Eyes Only’ in red. The PADD also has a hologram strip along the middle with green and red stickers overlaid. On the back is a brown label with a specific number.

Originally purchased as being from The Next Generation, only spotted it only recently in this episode of Deep Space Nine. As was the case with most Star Trek props, this PADD was most likely used in several episodes of both series, for the screen portion could be easily exchanged with another. What makes is distinctive are the middle and lower portions of the PADD, which remain the same, regardless of the screen. [PSoL]

The purse and gloves were given by Audrey to a friend to wear to a prestigious reception given by the Italian President at The Quirinale Palace while they were filming in Rome in 1960. Also included is a small black and white photograph of a 2 day old Sean Ferrer sent to the same friend, with Audrey’s own handwriting on the back in the famous green ink she used for her personal writing, and a Swiss newspaper clipping showing Audrey, her husband Mel and baby Sean. Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) "Blood and Fire" script, signed by David Gerrold

"Blood and Fire" is an episode written by David Gerrold for possible use on Star Trek: The Next Generation. The script was commissioned and written, but never actually filmed because certain studio executives had a negative reaction to its positive depiction of an openly gay couple. It was eventually adapted by Gerrold into a standalone novel.

In the original script, the crew of the Enterprise-D came upon a derelict spaceship whose crew had all been killed off by Regulan bloodworms. Since these creatures are highly dangerous and can kill within hours, any ship or space station found to be infested with bloodworms must be sterilized and/or destroyed, as per Starfleet orders. The concept of Regulan bloodworms, mentioned in dialogue in the original Star Trek series (but never actually explained until this episode), was intended to be a metaphor for the AIDS crisis, as AIDS was a similarly lethal disease.

This episode was also noted for its inclusion of two openly gay crewmembers, which would have been a first in Star Trek history. Years later, an AIDS allegory would finally be included in a Trek episode, namely the Star Trek: Enterprise episode "Stigma".
Herbert Wright rewrote the script under the name "Blood and Ice", which also was left unproduced.

With Gerrold's permission, Carlos Pedraza rewrote Blood and Fire for the fan series Star Trek: New Voyages. Gerrold did a final draft polish (possibly to expand the gay relationship to something more than a hint) and also directed the episode. The episode has come under fire for showing the two crewmembers "dry humping" and sharing an extended, open-mouthed kiss while in their quarters. [from Wikipedia entry]

The script was purchased directly from David Gerrold, and bears a dedication to me. This is one of my favourite pieces in my collection.

This is a visitor uniform complete with vest and jumpsuit from the 1983 classic science fiction series V. Items such as this can be seen in multiple episodes as aliens come to Earth to ask for our help, with sinister ulterior motives in mind. The jumpsuit is dark orange in color and is made of 100% cotton with a six button opening in front. It contains six pockets in front and three pockets in back, all of which are sewn shut. The dark orange vest is made up of cotton on the outside with a burgundy satin liner inside, has two belt loops in front, two in back, and a three piece velcro opening in the front. Best of all, the vest still has the original visitor insignias; one patch located on the upper left side, the second is a smaller patch on the left side of the collar. [PSoL]

A pair of prop books used in the Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore Oscar winning movie The Hours. These books have specially printed dust jackets which feature photographs of the ‘author’ Ed Harris. The first book is called ‘The Goodness Of Time’ by Richard Brown. This can be seen as Jeff Daniels and Meryl Streep are talking in her kitchen, Daniels picks up, flicks through and then tosses away the book. The second book is called ‘Working Conditions - a collection of poems’ again by Richard Brown (Ed Harris). This prop can be seen after the characters death, it features in a memorial display next to a photo of the actor and again on the poster above the memorial. Both these covers are prop made with genuine books inside them (‘From the Corner Of His Eye’ by Dean Koontz and ‘Kubrick’ by Michael Herr). These books are part of the Vicente do Ó collection. The prop ray gun used by Dex (Giovanni Ribisi) and Sky Captain (Jude Law) in the 2004 sci-fi thriller Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The prop raygun was used by Dex on the robots before he goes missing, Sky Captain finds his ray gun amongst the rubble and takes it with him on his journey to find the truth. The prop gun is one of only two made for the production and is made of resin painted silver, bronze and black with a spring loaded trigger. In the picture, some details were blurred intentionally to prevent replication. [PSoL]

This sculpted and painted resin arm was used as a reference for the left arm of the "Dante Beast" effects sequence in the 2003 film "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", with Sean Connery. The "Dante Beast" sequence was created by the Tippet Studio for the production and Damon Bard is credited as Lead Dante Modeler, and Peter Konig as Dante Beast Conceptual Supervisor. Visual effects supervisor Brennan Doyle supervised the climactic battle sequence between Mr. Hyde and the CG Dante Beast. The piece was acquired privately.

This is the Lamont Cranston/The Shadow (Alec Baldwin) costume, created by Bob Ringwood for the 1994 film The Shadow. Based on the 1930's comic strip, this updated version starred Alec Baldwin in the title role as The Shadow. This is the Pants, Cape, and Jacket and attached red scarf that was the signature look for the Dark hero. The Jacket and cape and pants appear to be made from a polyester blend. Also included is his 16” (41cm) wide brimmed hat that completed his eerie hero persona with Baldwin written on masking tape on the inside. This costume is in good condition and was tailor made to fit the 6 foot tall actor. [PSoL]

In November 2009, the site Retrocrush.com made a list of "The Coolest Super-hero Costumes of All Time", and the Shadow costume came in 7th of 20, ahead of such legends as The Phantom, The Rocketeer, Wolverine , Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange:

"I was concerned as to how far into the pulp hero world I should go back, while still keeping the term, superhero. Green Hornet, for example, has a fun costume but nothing so brilliant about it to deserve “all time best” recognition. The Shadow, however, has one of the most simple and effective outfits out there, and deserves praise. Brad pointed out that The Shadow is pretty much just dressed as a cowboy, but damnit if The Shadow ain’t the sexiest spooky cowboy the world has ever seen. The red scarf over his face is a simple mask, while his black clothing accented with a red interior to his cape, make him pretty damn awesome. Check out the very underrated Shadow movie starring Alec Baldwin to see how cool the costume can really be."

Jon Hamm recently won a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama for his performance as Don Draper in Mad Men."
Hamm can be seen on the big screen opposite Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly and Kathy Bates in the sci-fi remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, directed by Scott Derrickson. He plays 'Michael Granier,' a NASA official who recruits Connelly's character for the scientific team investigating a UFO's arrival on Earth. He also recently wrapped production on the independent thriller The Boy in the Box with Josh Lucas. Additional film credits include Kissing Jessica Stein, We Were Soldiers and Space Cowboys.
Hamm landed his first big role in the NBC series Providence where a cameo performance turned into an 18-episode run. Other television credits include the popular Lifetime television series The Division as well as What About Brian, The Unit, Numb3rs, CSI Miami, and many others.

Despite triumphing over the evil Khan, Admiral Kirk's victory is a hollow one -- McCoy (DeForest Kelley) is going insane, and Spock (Leonard Nimoy) is dead. Or is he? Kirk (William Shatner) jeopardizes his career by commandeering the U.S.S. Enterprise for a mission to the Genesis Planet. If he and his aging crew can defeat a deadly crew of Klingons, they may just be able to rescue their absent friend.

This costume was custom made for the production and worn by an extra. The costume consists of a long-sleeved, full-length, blue-gray robe with a raised collar and loose, pleated, sleeves; an over the shoulder, black, silk-like sash featuring a beautiful copper-colored dragon motif. A wide, reflective gold stripe over the shoulder, a smaller red stripe on the left, and red faux jewel featuring a Vulcan iconographic symbol in the center. Included is a rust-colored, Vulcan-style hat featuring accent trim in metallic-gold and brown stripe or ‘brick’ pattern, chinstrap, second accent strap that drapes across the chest and red faux jewel with similar symbol. A sewn in Paramount tag reads "7-4" and a label reading "Evens Riccardi" is almost covering the tag. This costume may have also been reused in various Trek television shows. [SU]

The hat can also be seen in the early scenes on Vulcan of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), where some priests are working in the background, with costumes similar (probably reused) to those from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

In one scene, the costume seems to be complete, as can be seen in the screen capture below.

In the next scenes, however, this seems to be part of two costumes, instead of one. In the movie, male pristes use the embroidered sash and the red hat, whereas the female priests use a white costume. Based on the collar, it seems that this from a female priest garment.

In STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, the original crew of the Starship Enterprise from the 1960s TV show is reunited in this dramatic, full-length science fiction epic. Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner), formerly a captain, is called upon to collect his old crewmates in order to save humanity from a giant, hostile alien vessel steadily approaching Earth and destroying everything in its path. The complex alien life-forms apparently possess such an advanced intelligence that even the brilliant Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) fails to comprehend the massive structure that contains them. There is tension on the ship, as well as in the universe, as Commander Willard Decker (Stephen Collins), the Enterprise's new captain, is relegated to being Kirk's assistant. In addition, Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (DeForest Kelley), the lovable, crotchety doctor who is constantly at odds with Spock, must be tricked away from his life of relaxation to serve on a voyage he wants no part of. Its not long before the Enterprise is taken over by the alien entity, and navigator Ilia (Persis Khambatta) is abducted. When she is returned to the Enterprise, she informs Kirk that unless the entity is united with its creator, it will destroy the Earth. With excellent special effects and witty nods to the old series, STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE set a new standard in sci-fi films--and paved the way for a host of excellent sequels.

Call sheet for the 3rd day of shooting (20) of the 2-hour pilot episode, dated June 2, 1987. All the main crew had scenes today, including DeForest kelley, and were mostly on the holodeck. [MB]

Daily Production Report for June 2nd. We can see that only the holodeck scenes were shot, and that the planned scenes in the corridor and transporter were not. 4:21 minutes were filmed this day.

Production report for Thursday, May 28, 1987, the second day of shooting. All day was spent on rehearsals. There was a makeup test for DeForest Kelly and wardrobe fittings for everyone. Corey Allen, the director, injured his ankle during a location survey at Griffith Park. [MB]
